Traditional Stories

for all ages

from around the world

Roger Sanders is a professional storyteller with 30 years’ experience telling traditional European Folk Tales for both children and adults.
His mesmerizing Storytelling style honours the origins of Traditional Stories, embellishing them with his own unique character using drama, humour, and plenty of live music and percussion.
He has visited hundreds of Schools and Kindergartens, Arts Events, Festivals, Fundraisers, Libraries and Private Functions
all around New Zealand.

“We have become so used to being constantly bombarded by noise, light and cleverness - in a 'shock and awe' attack on the senses - that the treat of firelight, acoustic music, and an unaided human voice has become truly magical”

Warren Draper ‘The Dark Mountain’

The ‘Telling of Stories’ is fundamentally connected to our humanity.

For thousands of years before the first book and before the first Theatre, there were Storytellers.

There is awe in the simplicity and intimacy of gathering around together to listen to the Storyteller spin their yarns, opening our hearts and expanding our imaginations with an art form as ancient as humanity.

Roger is a traditional Storyteller telling ancient tales. As a Storyteller he does not ‘possess’ or own these stories; they are not ‘his’ stories.
His task is to keep stories remembered and ‘safe’ and available to be brought out into the light, so they can come to life in our imaginations and our souls.

These are our stories
- to be cherished and enjoyed!
